After completing step 1 of the USMLE, students must prepare themselves for second step, USMLE Step 2 CK (Clinical Knowledge). This is one of the most demanding tests in terms of reasoning ability and deductive analysis.
Why? Because it is in this step that the student faces different scenarios for all professional doctors: different issues between discomforts and patients, plus especial attention for patient care.
Why is it so complicated if it seems to be the usual job of every doctor? Because instead of focusing on a single specialty, students will be answering multiple-choice questions among at least 7 areas, including kind treatment and patient’s supervision.
What to expect from USMLE Step 2 CK
This step determines the student’s ability to apply the acquired medical knowledge while demonstrating the application of essential skills in the science of medicine. These skills, as we said before, includes patient care and how the student will manage medical treatment and use what they know to make a successful diagnosis.
Likewise, the application of preventive measures for health care are taken into account, since they thus demonstrate that the professional’s attention is focused on take care of his patient, not only on approving and promptly resolving, leaving aside the basic principles of Medicine.
